My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about loud sounds. Some sounds feel very loud or sharp to me — sounds like hand dryers, sirens, or lots of people talking at once. My ears and my brain notice sounds strongly. That is part of how my body works.

Everyone's brain hears the world a little differently. Some people barely notice sounds that feel very big to me. The way sounds feel to me is real, and there is nothing wrong with me. Lots of other children notice sounds strongly too.

When a sound feels too big, there are things I can do. I can cover my ears. I can wear my headphones. I can move somewhere quieter, or tell a grown-up that the sound is too much. Asking for quiet is always okay.

Loud moments do not last forever. The hand dryer stops. The siren drives away. The talking quietens down. When the sound stops, my body feels calm again. I know what helps me, and that makes loud moments easier to get through.
