Why Some Clothes Feel Uncomfortable
Itchy tags, tight cuffs, and finding clothes that feel right.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about how clothes feel. Some clothes feel itchy, tight, or scratchy to me. My skin notices these feelings strongly. Other clothes feel soft and comfortable, and I like wearing those best.

The way clothes feel on my skin is real. Different people's skin notices different things — that is normal. It is okay to say when something feels uncomfortable. Saying it with calm words helps people understand me.

There are things that help. I can choose soft, comfy clothes when I can. I can ask a grown-up to cut out itchy tags. I can tell a grown-up which clothes feel best on my skin. Knowing what feels good helps us choose better clothes together.

Sometimes I need to wear special clothes for a short time — like a uniform or a costume. It is just for a while, not forever. Afterwards, I can change back into my comfy clothes. Wearing tricky clothes for a little while is something I can do.
