When Someone Tries to Bully Me
Staying calm, walking away, and telling a trusted grown-up.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is an important story. Most children are kind most of the time. Once in a while, a child might try to bully someone — that means being unkind on purpose, more than once, to make them feel small, scared, or sad. Bullying is never okay, and it is never my fault.
Bullying can be hitting or pushing. It can be mean words, teasing, or leaving someone out on purpose. If someone keeps being unkind to me on purpose, that is bullying. Noticing it is the first step.
If someone tries to bully me, I can try to stay calm on the outside, even if I feel upset inside. I can stand tall, and in a strong, steady voice I can say 'stop' or 'leave me alone.' Then I can walk away to a safer place.
The most important thing I can do is tell a grown-up I trust, like a grown-up or my teacher. Telling is not tattling — it is asking for help to stay safe. I can keep telling until someone helps. Grown-ups want to know, and they can help it stop.
I have people who care about me and want me to be safe. Bullying is not my fault, and I do not have to face it alone. I am learning to stay calm, walk away, and tell someone I trust.
