My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about days when the plan changes. Most days follow a routine — the things that usually happen, in the order they usually happen. I like knowing what comes next. Sometimes, though, the plan changes. Plans change for everyone now and then.

When the plan changes, I might feel surprised, cross, or worried. These are normal ways to feel about change. Many children feel wobbly when something unexpected happens. The feeling usually settles once I know the new plan.

When the plan changes, I can take a slow breath. Then I can ask, 'What is happening next?' Then a grown-up will explain the new plan to me. Knowing the new plan helps me feel steady again.

Even when the plan changes, I am safe and looked after. The change is usually just for today. The usual routine will come back soon. Handling a change of plan is something I am getting better at every time.
