Sadness can look different for different people. Sometimes it means tears. Sometimes it means feeling quiet, or wanting to be alone for a little while. All of these are okay ways to feel sad.

When I feel sad, there are things that can help. I can have a hug. I can do a calm or favourite activity. I can talk to a grown-up about my sad feeling. Sharing a sad feeling with someone usually helps it feel lighter.

Sad feelings get smaller with time. Bit by bit, my body feels better, and happy moments come back. I can be gentle with myself while I wait. Feeling sad and then feeling better is something everyone does.
