What to Do if I Get Lost
A simple, calm plan for losing sight of a grown-up.

My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about what to do if I get lost. In a busy place, I might lose sight of a grown-up. Getting lost can feel scary — and I have a plan for it. Having a plan helps me know just what to do.

First, I stop and stay in one place. Staying still is the smart move — it helps my grown-up find me faster. While I wait, I can take slow breaths to help my body stay calm. My grown-up is already looking for me.

If my grown-up does not come soon, I can ask a safe helper. Safe helpers are workers with name badges, police officers, or a parent who has children with them. I can say, 'I am lost,' and tell them my name and my grown-up's name. Safe helpers know how to help lost children.

While I follow my plan, a grown-up is looking for me too. Most children who get lost are found again very quickly. We can practise this plan together so it feels easy to remember. Knowing my lost plan makes busy places safer for me.
