Why and how to wash hands, step by step.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about washing my hands. During the day, my hands touch lots of things. Sometimes tiny germs get onto them, even when my hands look clean. Washing my hands with soap and water helps wash the germs away. Lots of people wash their hands every day, just like me.
There are good times to wash my hands. I wash them before I eat, after I go to the toilet, after I play outside, and after I cough or sneeze into them. Washing at these times helps keep me healthy.
First, I make my hands wet with water. Then I add a little soap and rub my hands together — the fronts, the backs, and in between my fingers. I keep rubbing for about as long as it takes to sing a short song. Then I rinse all the soap away.
Last, I dry my hands on a towel. Now my hands are clean and fresh. If I need help reaching the tap, I can ask a grown-up. Washing my hands is a quick job, and looking after my hands keeps my whole body healthy.
