Personal Space and Hugs
Respecting other people's space and my own, and asking before hugging.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about personal space. Personal space is the little area of room around each person's body. Most people like to have a bit of space around them, like an invisible bubble.
When I stand a little way back from people, they feel comfortable. If I stand too close, some people feel squished or uneasy. About an arm's length away is usually just right.
A hug is a way to share a friendly feeling. Some people love hugs, and some people do not. Before I hug someone, I can ask, 'Can I have a hug?' If they say yes, that is lovely. If they say no, that is okay too — I can wave or say hello instead.
I have my own personal space too. If someone is too close and I don't like it, I can take a step back or say 'I need some space, please.' I am learning to respect other people's space and my own.
