Opening a Gift

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about gifts. Sometimes people give me a gift, like on my birthday or at a party. A gift is something special that one person gives to another. Getting a gift is exciting.

When I open a gift, I can carefully take off the wrapping. Inside there is a surprise. Whatever it is, I can look at the person and say 'thank you.' Saying thank you shows I am glad they thought of me.

Sometimes a gift is not something I wanted, or I already have one. I might feel a little disappointed. That feeling is okay, but the kind thing is to still say 'thank you' and keep my disappointed thoughts inside. The person chose the gift to be nice, and saying thank you keeps their feelings happy.

People give gifts to show they care. When I open a gift kindly and say thank you, everyone feels good. I am learning to receive gifts in a kind and friendly way.
