Joining a Game
What to do when I want to play with others.
Preview

My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about joining a game. Sometimes I see children playing a game, and I want to play too. First, I can watch for a little while. Watching helps me see what the game is and how it works.

Then I can move closer and ask, 'Can I play too?' I try to use a friendly voice and wait for the answer. Many children ask to join games this way. It is a brave and friendly thing to do.

Sometimes the children say yes straight away. Sometimes they say 'after this turn', and I can wait. Sometimes the answer is no. That can feel disappointing, and that is okay — I can find another game, or ask again another day. All of these things happen to many children.

When I join in, I follow the rules of the game and take my turns. Playing fairly helps everyone have fun. The more games I join, the easier joining in becomes. Playing together is a happy part of my day.
