Going to Bed at Night
A calm wind-down routine for bedtime.

My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about going to bed at night. When it gets dark outside, bedtime is coming. My body has worked and played hard all day, and now it is time to slow down. Resting at night helps my body and my brain grow.

Before bed, I might have a bath or a wash, and then I put on my cosy pyjamas. Warm water and soft pyjamas help my body feel calm. Many children follow the same steps every night. Doing the same steps helps me know what comes next.

Then I brush my teeth. After that comes quiet time — I might read a story with a grown-up, have a cuddle, or listen to something soft. Quiet time tells my body that sleep is coming soon.

Then the lights go down low and I climb into my bed. My bed is a safe and comfortable place. While I sleep, a grown-up is nearby. I can close my eyes, rest my body, and let sleep come. Sleep helps me feel fresh for tomorrow.
