Going to a Restaurant
Menus, ordering, and waiting for food at a restaurant.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about going to a restaurant. A restaurant is a place where people cook food for us. It might be new to me, with different sounds and smells. Families go to restaurants to eat together and have a nice time.

At the table, we look at the menu and choose what to eat. The menu is a list of all the foods the restaurant can make. I can choose my food and tell the waiter myself, or I can ask a grown-up to say it for me. Both ways work fine.

The cooks need time to make our food, so we wait at the table. Waiting is a normal part of going to a restaurant — everyone at every table is waiting too. While I wait, I can chat, draw, or play a quiet game. The food usually comes before long.

When the food arrives, we eat together. I can tell a grown-up what I think of my meal. Afterwards, we pay and go home. Choosing, waiting, and eating at a restaurant is a lot of steps — and I did them all.
