Going on an Airplane
What happens at the airport and on a flight, and how to stay calm.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about flying on an airplane. An airplane is a big machine that flies high in the sky and carries people to faraway places. Soon I will go on a flight with a grown-up.
First we go to the airport. It is a big, busy place with lots of people. We check in our bags and go through security, where our bags are scanned to keep everyone safe. There might be lines and waiting. I can bring something to keep me busy while we wait.
On the plane, I find my seat and put on my seatbelt. When the plane takes off, my tummy might feel funny and my ears might feel full. That is normal. Yawning, chewing, or having a drink can help my ears feel better.
The plane makes humming and rumbling noises, and sometimes it bumps a little. This is called turbulence, and it is okay — the plane is built to handle it. If I feel worried, I can hold a grown-up's hand and take slow breaths.
After a while, the plane lands and we arrive at our new place. Flying takes us somewhere exciting. I am learning that I can go on an airplane and stay calm.
