A gentle step-by-step routine for school mornings.

My name is {{childName}}. This is my story about getting ready in the morning. When I wake up, the day is just beginning. Sometimes I feel sleepy, and sometimes I feel ready to go. Both are okay. There are a few jobs to do before I go out, and I can do them one step at a time.

First, I go to the toilet. Then I wash my hands and my face. The water helps my body wake up. Washing keeps me clean and healthy. Many children wash their face in the morning, just like me.

Next, I take off my pyjamas and put on my clothes for the day. I usually start with underwear, then my top, then the rest. If a button or a zip is tricky, I can ask a grown-up for help. Asking for help is a smart thing to do.

Then it is time for breakfast and a drink. Food gives my body energy to play, think, and learn. I sit down and eat my breakfast. When I am finished, my tummy feels ready for the day.

Last, I brush my teeth, pack my bag, and put on my shoes. Now I am ready to go. Getting ready step by step makes a grown-up feel happy. Getting ready in the morning is something I am learning to do well!
