Getting Dressed by Myself
Putting on clothes one step at a time.

My name is {{childName}}, and this is my story about getting dressed by myself. I can put on my clothes one piece at a time. First, I choose my clothes for today. Sometimes a grown-up helps me choose, and sometimes I choose all by myself.

I put on my underwear first. Then I put on my top, and then my trousers, shorts, or skirt. The label usually goes at the back. If something ends up backwards, that is okay — I can just try again.

Last, I put on my socks and then my shoes. Buttons, zips, and laces can be tricky for many children. If I get stuck, I can ask a grown-up for help. Asking for help is a good plan.

Now I am dressed and ready for my day. I did most of it by myself! Every time I practise, getting dressed becomes a little easier. Having a go on my own makes a grown-up feel proud — and I can feel proud too.
